Earlier this afternoon I explored the case for Paul Janish, the shortstop who's outperforming Orlando Cabrera as the latter sits around the DL. Janish is one of many Reds Adidas Pure Boost X Training Shoes Shoes bench players that has contributed to the teams succe s this season. A few commenters in the post point out a couple of other bench players who might provide an upgrade if given more playing time.

The Reds outfield this year continues to be not so good. The three players most abundant in PA Jonny Gomes, Jay Bruce, and Drew Stubbs have wOBAs of .330, .322, and .319. Keeping Bruce and Stubbs in the outfield is understandable. Theyre struggling, but theyre also young and regarded area of the franchises future. Gomes may have the very best wOBA included in this, but hes a year-to-year player at this point. In any case, his wOBA is heavily affected by his torrid May, during which he produced a .445 wOBA. Within the 3 months since hes Boost Shoes Shoes hit .304, .297, and .318.

Jim Edmonds was introduced to a sist, at least in a platoon with Gomes. He hasnt hit too well since his move, but thats a measly 15 PA sample. Chances are hell help fortify the outfield unit once he hits his stride. The Reds will have another guy who may help: rookie Chris Heisey. A 17th-round pick in 2002, Heisey has never been a highly regarded prospect despite quality minor league production. In 133 PA this year hes produced a .381 wOBA. As with the case of Janish thats likely unsustainable and could certainly drop when hes subjected to regular playing time. But considering the way Gomes and Stubbs have hit there seems little risk in going with Edmonds, Heisey, and Bruce in the outfield of all days.

(And, if Dusty desired to get cute he could platoon Gomes and Bruce.)

There was a mention Nike Shoes within the comments, too, about the teams catching situation. Ryan Hanigan and Ramon Hernandez have nearly identical wOBAs, so it shouldnt be much of a surprise that Hanigan has picked up a few more PA, especially of late. His season numbers, especially his .380 OBP, make a disagreement that he should see additional time than Hernandez. But Hernandez has the edge within the power department, and the .359 OBP ranks seventh among NL catchers with at least 200 PA. Hanigan has additionally slumped since coming back from a stint around the DL, producing a .258 wOBA in July and a .189 wOBA in August. Hernandez has a .361 wOBA in August, so if Dusty wants to stick with the hot hand hell give Hernandez more playing time. Adidas Questar Boost Shoes

This brings us to another interesting comment, that Dusty doesnt wish to me s with whats working. Theres some merit to that, for the reason that it may sound just like a bad idea to pi s off some key clubhouse guys. However i wonder exactly what the on-field effect would be. That's, how would production suffer if your clubhouse presence like Cabrera were offended by Janish playing more regularly. Or maybe Gomes were upset over losing his spot to Heisey. When the aforementioned bench players can maintain their production when pre sed into more regular duty, it would seem like they would save the day create more runs. At this time, in the middle of a pennant race, it seems like its a minimum of worth a go.
